Rachael LaLiberty Mavroudis, RVT

Hi my name is Rachael Mavroudis, I am a Veterinary Technician of almost 20 years.

I was not always an animal  person nor a poodle person.

the first animal I ever ran from was a TOY POODLE. I actually jumped onto a pool table to protect myself from the harmless little barking dog. After relocating from Lawrence Massachusetts to Lawrenceville Georgia at the age of 5 my parents surprised us after Christmas with a puppy.

At the age of 9 I began volunteering with the Gwinnett Humane Society every SATURDAY AND SUNDAY through the entirety of high school. Graduating in 2003 from Collins Hill High School. Were I received  the Presidents Scholarship Award 3 years in a row for my community service.

I then attended the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology were I graduated with an Associates Degree in Animal Science in 2005.

Since graduation I have continued to volunteer with my first family Gwinnett Humane Society on an as needed basis.  I have worked in both General Veterinary Practice, Specialty and Emergency  Veterinary Medicine.

My Love of poodles came from my First Rescue Poodle, Puddle Duck. I already had my dream dog that our family adopted for my 16th Birthday,  our first "FOSTER FAIL". Still to this day the BEST $75.00 ever spent.

Huckleberry Finn. That dog and I were inseparable, college, first home, you name it he was there.  Puddle Duck came into our life as one of my first puppy exams an RVT out of college. This tiny 1.5# "TEACUP" poodle,  his owner pampered him to know end. Well except she only fed raw meat. After several bouts of diarrhea, she requested euthanasia or was going to bring to the shelter. I couldn’t fathom this now 5# delicate 1.5yr old Toy Poodle in the shelter, so I offered to take him home, until he was adopted.

When Puddles and I lost Our Huckleberry Finn our entire worlds ended.  Puddle and I spent hours, days mourning. He went days without eating and he just couldn’t life.

Lug Nut Joined our life, He was a half starved 4week old puppy that we found on “Craigs List”. I signed a note stating I would not sue if the puppy died. Then we flew The Great Gatsby” from horrible living conditions in Colorado.

Since the loss of our ENTIRE Original Crew Chris and I have decided to open this Non-Profit Poodle Rescue for those sweet babies who were not as fortunate from the beginning.

As a RVT in Gwinnett County and working in Multiple Hospitals in our community I new there was a need for the never-ending crisis to Poodle and Poodle Mixes.  From Grooming basics, coat maintenance, diet, energy level, precautions, allergies, etc. The favorite part of my job is knowing that I am making a difference in your pet’s life by educating the owners on proper breed care.

Sincerely,

Rachael Mavroudis, RVT
